Dr. Deanna Saylor is an Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. She completed her medical school education, neurology residency, and neuro-infectious disease and neuroimmunology fellowship at Johns Hopkins. Her clinical and research interests focus on improving the diagnosis and management of neurological conditions in resource-limited settings, particularly stroke and multiple sclerosis. Dr. Saylor lived and worked full-time in Zambia as Director of the first and only neurology post-graduate training program in Zambia from 2018-2026. She also led the development of the first stroke unit and has been a leader in efforts to develop teleneurology services and improve undergraduate medical education in Zambia. She serves in leadership roles in several organizations, including the ANA, AAN and African Committee on Treatment and Research in MS, and has mentored dozens of medical students in residents, both in Zambia, across Africa and in the United States.
