Dr. Chitnis is Professor and Chair of Neurology at the UT Tyler School of Medicine in Tyler, Texas. She is a board-certified neurologist with fellowship training in movement disorders and serves as Residency Program Director for Neurology. Previously, she was Associate Residency Program Director and Movement Disorders Fellowship Director at UT Southwestern, where she also developed the neuromodulation program for advanced therapies including Deep Brain Stimulation and directed the faculty mentoring program. She created national online fellowship education through the TEAMS program during the pandemic and co-chairs the San Francisco Match Committee for movement disorders. Nationally, she serves on multiple committees for the American Academy of Neurology and the International Movement Disorders Society and is Chair of the MDS-LEAP leadership program. She has led over 40 clinical trials, authored 30+ publications, edited two books, and served as associate editor for TOHM.
